This course is all about helping you feel informed, supported, and self-assured through pregnancy, birth, the fourth trimester, and the early days of parenting. You’ll explore evidence-based birth options, informed consent and decision-making, comfort techniques for labor, partner and doula roles, mental health foundations, feeding and lactation basics, newborn cues, and building a practical village. Expect clear frameworks, step-by-step checklists, and realistic practice scenarios that meet you where you are.
By the end, you’ll be ready to navigate prenatal visits, advocate in the delivery room, design a postpartum plan, and troubleshoot common hurdles like feeding, sleep, and mood shifts. The real-world payoff is calm, confident communication, safer choices under pressure, and a smoother transition into family life—skills you can use immediately and revisit as your child grows.
What you will learn
I started this course after years of supporting new and expecting parents who wanted clear, calm guidance without the overwhelm. Every lesson is carefully crafted to be evidence-based, trauma-informed, and practical, giving you a friendly roadmap from pregnancy basics to birth options, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and partner support. As a starter, you’ll love the bite-sized modules, simple checklists, and ready-to-use templates for birth and postpartum plans that make decisions easier and boost your confidence. The curriculum is thoughtfully organized so you always know what’s next, and each step builds your skills—mindset, comfort techniques, advocacy, and everyday routines—so you feel prepared, supported, and in control.
Curriculum
Meet Adriana
I’m a student-midwife & doula serving Massachusetts and the founder of Doula Philosophy. After supporting several family births, I completed birth and postpartum training in 2018, spent a year volunteering with families in Boston, and have since worked in both private practice and with local nonprofits. My work centers community-based, culturally responsive care and confronting Black maternal mortality—supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the fourth trimester with steady, evidence-based guidance.
In Empowering Motherhood, I teach what I practice: clear, practical tools for informed decision-making, self-advocacy, and healthy, joyful outcomes. Drawing on years at bedsides and in living rooms, I offer down-to-earth childbirth education, partner-inclusive planning, and postpartum readiness, and I’ve also taught on college campuses about the value of doula care. My goal is for you to leave confident, heard, and equipped for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenthood.
